Born in St Kitts, 1954. Decima trained as an actress and then as a theatre director. She has pioneered performance arts techniques and performance art as a means of achieving behaviour modification, raising self-esteem, confidence and communications skills.
Ms Francis founded the Charity SASS in 1983. FBMF, SASS's most successful project was set up in 1997 as a direct response to the problem of exclusion happening in the London Borough of Southwark. Decima Francis spearheaded the Mayor of London's anti-gun crime initiative "Calling the Shots." The project CTS was commissioned by the Greater London Authority (GLA).
She was presented with a "Local Heroes" award in January 2005; this award was given to over 70 Local Leaders in their communities by the Home Secretary Charles Clarke for her work with FBMF. In June 2005, Decima Francis was awarded an MBE for her work for the black community in Southwark.
